Fallbrook Art Center welcomed a strong and engaged audience on Saturday, May 2, from 4–6 PM for the opening reception of the Sustainable Creations Exhibition, curated by Renée Richetts.
The evening marked a vibrant start to the exhibition, with a steady stream of visitors moving through the galleries and engaging deeply with the work on view. The exhibition presents a thoughtful and well-curated selection of artists exploring themes of sustainability—featuring upcycled materials, found objects, and compositions rooted in natural elements.

At the center of the exhibition are six large-scale sculptures that embody the spirit of Sustainable Creations, anchoring the gallery with presence, material innovation, and conceptual strength.
Renée Richetts’ curatorial vision is evident throughout—balancing material experimentation with a cohesive narrative that highlights both environmental awareness and artistic ingenuity.

Julia S. Rasor at Sustainable Creations
Among the participating artists, Julia S. Rasor presented a series of sculptural works that reflect her ongoing exploration of movement, structure, and transformation through reclaimed materials.
“The exhibition is wonderful—a great way to showcase innovative thinking in our great community.”
Her work contributes to the exhibition’s dynamic energy, aligning seamlessly with the broader theme while maintaining a distinct sculptural voice. Many of Julia’s wearable fashions are available in the gift shop.

A Community in Motion
The opening brought together a wide range of artists, collectors, and community members, reinforcing the importance of shared creative dialogue. Conversations moved easily between material process, environmental awareness, and the evolving role of contemporary sculpture.
The exhibition as a whole feels alive—built not only from materials with past histories, but from the collective energy of the artists presenting them.

From Sculpture to Couture: May 9
Looking ahead, Rasor’s work will continue to evolve within the same space at the Janice Griffiths Gallery with the upcoming Green Go Fashion Show on May 9.
This special event will feature Rasor’s Haute Couture steel-mesh sculptures, bringing her sculptural language to life in a wearable format. Set against a dramatic backdrop of sculpture, painting, and assemblage, the fashion show promises an immersive experience where art and movement intersect.
Attendees will experience an upcycled fashion presentation that extends the exhibition’s core themes into performance, blurring the lines between structure, body, and environment.
